"Every day, the United States consumes close to 21 million barrels of oil, the majority of it going into transportation." (1) We make more products from oil than one can count. Anything from the gas we drive our cars with, the soles of your shoes to the plastic bags we use every day. 21 million barrels a day is a lot, how much can there be left on the planet. Bicycles all the way baby... yah!

Those with cramps in their feet, may find it hard to ride a bicycle.
This is a good point, but it must be pointed out that the same could be said for pushing down on gas or break pedal too. However, just as cars have been modified for certain disabilities, so can bicycles (which have been) and there are also plenty of electrical mean of transportation that does not harm the environment (ie: electric wheel chairs, scooter, etc..). Cramps in feet are hardly an excuse for drivng cars. :)
yo, did we watch 'end of suburbia' together? my favorite part about peak oil is the fact that for over half a century we've been building these sprawling cities that you can only navigate with the automobile. maybe people will ride bikes and skateboards...that'd end the obesity epidemic. I'd personally like to see you cruising around town in an electric wheelchair, though....
It's all about electric scooters man, old school vespa style. It would be amazing...I'm going to invent the electric skateboard... longboard... sick!
